Saysutshun has more than 22 kilometres of well-tended trails that will suit every age and fitness level. The relatively level trails are perfect for running, biking, or a gentle stroll through nature.

Saysutshun Trails and Parks

If this is your first visit to the island, make sure to take enough time to explore; there are many trails to choose from, and each offers something different and exciting! Our coastal trails take you past sandy and pebbled beaches that invite you to stop for a refreshing swim. The Channel trail passes the old sandstone quarry and leads you to the island's north end with its unparalleled views of Departure Bay. You can design your outdoor adventure to include birdwatching, a forest stroll, beach combing, or a meander through all the significant cultural and historical sites on the island. If you want a truly immersive experience, arrange an Interpretive Walking Tour with a Snuneymuxw guide.

Coastal Trail

Our most popular walk, the 8km tour around the perimeter of the island, takes about 2 hours on average (more if you stop to admire the many lookout points or read the interpretive signs along the way).

Biking

Many of the trails are multi-purpose and can be used for both walking and biking. Check out our Trail Map for details (you can download it above).

Dogs

Your four-legged hiking friend is welcome on Saysutshun but must be on a leash at all times.
